Abstract

|
There are two types of recurrent patellar dislocation : one in which there is an underlying pathology and a second variety in which trauma precipitates an acute dislocation in a normal knee, but the medial patellar retinaculum and capsule heal
with
undue lengthening, so that the patella can subsequently dislocate easily with minor trauma.
